Recommended product to purchase with this camera is a POE Switch and Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable that is long enough to reach from the power source to the installation site.
Powering the camera is simple
- Ensure you have a compatible PoE switch that supports the 802.3at standard (also known as PoE+), as the Ajax TurretCam requires this for proper operation.
- Connect one end of the Cat5E Ethernet cable to an available PoE-enabled port on your PoE switch.
- Run the Cat5E cable to the location where you plan to install the TurretCam.
- Connect the other end of the Cat5E cable directly to the Ethernet port on the Ajax TurretCam.
- The camera should power on automatically as it receives power through the Ethernet cable. There's no need for a separate power adapter.
- Wait for the camera to boot up and establish a network connection with the Ajax cloud.
You can now add the camera in the Ajax app by scanning the QR code.
Important guidelines for the POE Switch:
- Ensure your PoE switch can provide sufficient power (up to 15W) as required by the TurretCam.
- Use a quality Cat5E (or better) Ethernet cable to ensure proper power and data transmission.
- The maximum cable length for PoE is typically 100 meters (328 feet). If you need to extend beyond this, you may need a PoE extender or injector.
